Tustin criminal lawyerIn a case that sounds like it’s out of Snow White, a woman who posed as a fruit seller to gain entry to a home in order to rob it was sentenced last week for the murder of one of the home owners.

According to Orange County district attorneys, Gladys Romero was posing as fruit seller and asked for a glass of water at the apartment of Juan Gomez in June of 2000. Once inside the home, she opened the door for her brother. They tied up the family at gunpoint in order to rob them, but Gomez freed himself and got into an altercation with the brother. He shot Gomez, and then she shot Gomez again. They fled the home with a purse, but Romero left hers behind.

Police were able to get DNA samples from the purse and match it with a sample taken from Romero when she was convicted of a misdemeanor in September 2010.

Gladys Romero and her brother Alejandro Romero both pleaded guilty of murder for the June 2000 crime. Gladys was sentenced to 25 years to life.
