san juan capistrano criminal defense attorneyA jewelry wholesaler was the victim of a literal highway robbery last week as he carried more than $100,000 in cash and jewelry from a recent transaction for his company with no security or personal protection.

The victim, an employee of Brilliant Diamonds in La Palma, asked to remain anonymous, but said he was on his way home to Orange County when he was robbed. He had just completed a transaction and was driving with as much as $125,000 in jewelry and cash. He said an SUV nearly ran him off the road, and then pulled up behind him and began flashing its bright lights.

The victim pulled over after being boxed in by two other SUVs, and when he did, another car pulled up and the driver flashed a gun. He demanded the jewelry and cash, and they sped away after the victim complied. The victim called 9-1-1. He told police he didn’t know how long they had been following him after the transaction at the El Cajon store. Police have not released a description of the suspects or the cars they were in.
