santa ana criminal defense attorneyPolice are searching for a man who robbed a Garden Grove Pizza Hut at gunpoint.

Employees of the store said a white man in his twenties entered the store at around 8:30 p.m. on April 8. He pointed a gun at the clerk and demanded the money from the register. Then, the suspect demanded money from the safe but employees told him the safe was timer locked and would not open until the next day. When he could not get any more cash, the suspect fled on foot.

The suspect was seen on surveillance footage released by Garden Grove Police wearing a hoodie and glasses and blue latex gloves. He was carrying a semi-automatic handgun.

The laws in California carry special sentencing enhancements for using a gun in a crime of any sort. The 10-20-Life or “Use a gun and you’re done” law is one of the toughest in the nation. The law stipulates that you automatically receive 10 years in prison for using a gun in a crime, 20 years in prison for firing a gun during the commission of a crime, and 25 years to life in prison for shooting someone. This time is in addition to any time given for the actual offense committed, such as robbery.
