Marine Faces Additional Charges in Murder of Girlfriend

An ex-Marine is facing new charges for murder in Panama, where his girlfriend’s body was found. Brian Brimager is already in custody on over a dozen charges from U.S. authorities in the murder of 41-year-old Orange County resident Yvonne Baldelli.
The couple moved to Carnero Island, Panama, in September 2011 to try and get a new start, but neighbors say they could be heard fighting constantly, and Baldelli often had bruises on her face. That November, Baldelli went missing.

In 2013, her remains were discovered in a military-style duffel bag on the island. Court papers revealed that days after Baldelli went missing, Brimager searched Google for how to get bloodstains out of a mattress.

Although Baldelli was dead, her family received emails saying she had moved to Costa Rica and withdrawals were made from her account. Prosecutors say it was all part of Brimager’s plan to cover his crime.
